How to Help The Rape Crisis Center of Coastal Horizons Center, Inc
The Rape Crisis Center relies on volunteers to provide coverage for hospital response. In the event that someone is sexually assaulted and reports to the Emergency Room, our volunteers provide emotional support and advocacy for that victim. This may include accompanying them as they go through the sexual assault evidence collection process and/or report to law enforcement. Volunteers are required to attend a 4 week, 20 hour training. Volunteers are also required to successfully complete a criminal background check, a drug screen, a motor vehicle check, a NC Health Care Registry Check, and adhere to the policies and procedures of Coastal Horizons Center, Inc.
Time Commitment: In addition to participating in 20 hours of training, our volunteers are asked to schedule a minimum of 4 (12 hour) shifts of on-call time each month and make a commitment to volunteer for at least one year. It is most helpful to utilize our direct service volunteers on Friday, Saturdays, Sundays, and agency holidays; however, volunteer coverage on any day is greatly appreciated.
The Rape Crisis Center of Coastal Horizons Center, Inc. relies on grants and donations for its funding. Please consider making a donation in order to ensure Rape Crisis Center services.
